More About Rachel |
Family
I grew up in Brunswick, Ohio, and currently reside in Columbus with my husband, Kevin, and our four adorable fur babies: Sami, Carmel, Tobi and Bailey. Sami is a gorgeous gray Snowshoe cat and Carmel is a mischievous tabby cat rescue. Tobi and Bailey are both rescues as well and are completely opposite in every way. Tobi is a small, sleepy, lazy Boston Terrier and Bailey is an energetic, playful Boxer who always has a toy in her mouth begging to play fetch.
Hobbies
When I'm not teaching dancers the latest hip-hop moves or tap dancing down grocery aisles, I can be found hiking, cycling and running trails. I enjoy exploring the outdoors, especially at my favorite place in the world, Sedona, AZ.

Career Path
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.A. in Communication and a certificate in Journalism. All of my life, I wanted to change the world, just like Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward did with Watergate. Clutching a notebook and resting a pen above my ear, I set out to get my first taste of reporting at a small daily county newspaper in Indiana. The rush of constant deadlines was invigorating, and eventually I would not only take pictures and write articles, but I would get to design the layout of the entire newspaper. Everything looked promising, except for the decline of print media, and the Boone County Daily Sun soon fell to the rise of the internet.
Heartbroken, I felt that leaving print media for the field of communications may be a better career decision and I landed a job as the Communication Coordinator at CauseForce, LLC. I spent my days writing media releases, pitching story ideas, developing marketing strategies and going to incredibly exciting events.
My next career move happened because a website I had followed for years was looking for a Communication Coordinator. Fitness is very important to me, so I was thrilled when I was able to play an integral part at a world-wide fitness company, elitefts.com. This led me back to my roots in Ohio.
While at elitefts.com, I started teaching dance part-time as a dance instructor. When the opportunity presented itself to become a full-time dance instructor, I could not pass it up.
Today I am teaching dance full-time as well as part-time at the competitive level.

Accomplishments
Print Media
As a CauseForce Communication Coordinator, I received my first byline in The Globe and Mail under a photograph I snapped of the Prime Minister of Canada's wife while she flipped pancakes for our event. It was also at CauseForce that I learned how to make complete sentences around celebrities, instead of standing star-struck with my mouth ajar. I was able to meet and interview multiple celebrities and athletes throughout my careers, including John Schnatter of Papa John's, Peyton Manning, Branch Warren, Zydrunas Savickas, and others.
Social Media
A single YouTube video I created for elitefts.com has over 500,000 views. With my help, the whole website saw a 90 percent increase in traffic due to engaging articles and social media.
Choreography
The most memorable accomplishment I have with dance is choreographing a hip hop routine for a first year competitive group. They received the highest score out of all routines at Revolution Dance Competition and were invited to Worlds. At Worlds, they placed 11th in their category and I couldn't have been more proud of them! Since then, I have had two more dance routines invited to compete at Worlds. At nationals, I earned an Outstanding Choreography award for my dance "No Dames." This award was only given out to three routines out of hundreds competing at the national level. My dances have received numerous special judges awards and many times place in the top 3 for their age and level.
Acting
I have danced and acted in commercials and off-Broadway shows. I was also a movie extra in "The Last Summer," which is a 2019 Netflix movie and I can't wait to see what is in store next!
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me!
